Going Into Dublin City Centre
Coming into any big city can be daunting, even more so if you have no idea on how to get from one point to the next. This is a guide to give an over view on how to get into Dublin City Centre from Dublin Airport and Sea port. Depending on you traveling light will probably depend on the best way to get into centre, hopefully we can give you an idea on what to expect.
Dublin City is split up into different postal areas. O'Connell Street, in the heart of the city, starts with Dublin 1. Across the O'Connell Bridge at the River Liffey is Dublin 2 and is where Temple Bar, Grafton Street and Trinity College is located. If you are spending a weekend in Dublin it is mostly likely you'll be staying in these two areas.
From Dublin Airport By Bus
There are a number of bus services that run from Dublin Airport directly into the city centre. The Aircoach is one example of the airport shuttles buses. See out Airport Bus guide if needing more information.
The airport bus will drop off at the main bus which is located in Dublin 1. It is a 5 minutes walk from O'Connell Street. If you do not fancy walking there is a Taxi Rank available or the Luas line located out the back of the building. A Taxi into Dublin 2 can cost from 10 Euro - 17 Euro, depending on traffic. The Red Luas line runs across North Dublin into the West and and is one stop from O'Connell Street. A fare on the Luas depends on your destination but if you stop is at O'Connell Street then it costs 1.70 Euro for a single fare. Dublin 2 is only a short walking distance from O'Connell Street
Dublin Airport By Taxi
There is a Taxi rank located outside the arrivals gate. A typical journey into the city centre can take anywhere from 20 minutes - 45 depending on the traffic. If traveling by Taxi through rush hour traffic always allow up to 2hrs extra travel time to keep it safe.
From Dublin Airport By Hire Car
There are a number of different car rental companies located at Dublin Airport. You can use our reservation form to book one in advance of your arrival. From Sea Port To City Centre
If you are coming into Dublin from the Ferry you'll be located on the edge of Dublin 1 at the port. This is a 5 or 10 minute walk from O'Connell Street or Busaras (central Bus stop). It is also in walking distance to Temple Bar but if you are hauling luggage then a hopping into a Taxi would be a better idea.
